When It's Time to Leave...

Payment Policies

Once the veterinarian examines your pet and recommends a treatment plan, you will be asked to authorize a written Treatment Plan detailing the services to be rendered.

Because emergency and critical care medicine is dynamic, it’s possible that your pet may require more or less of a particular service. This can only be determined as the Treatment Plan progresses. For this reason, the charges shown on the Proposed Treatment Plan include both a high and low amount.

If your pet will be staying with us for a while and you choose to leave the clinic, you will be asked to pay the low end of the Proposed Treatment Plan before leaving. Upon your pet’s discharge, you will be provided with a detailed list of provided care. Any balance due will be requested at that time.

Discharge:

Before you leave, you will receive a Discharge Summary which provides a brief explanation of your pet’s visit and focuses on any care you will need to provide for your loved one. The receptionist will explain all discharge instructions before you leave the clinic. A fully detailed Medical Record of your pet’s visit will be sent to your family veterinarian or printed for your records.

Once you get home, if you have any questions at all about your pet’s follow-up care, or if your pet just doesn’t “seem right,” please give us a call. We might ask you to bring your pet back for further evaluation.

PEC’s payment policy is that you will not be charged for a second related visit within the first 24 hours after discharge.
