Assessing the Problem
Doctor’s Examination
Typically, your pet will be seen first in an exam room. A veterinary technician takes your pet’s vital signs and asks you a few questions. Next, the doctor meets with you and the examination begins. In addition to doing a hands-on physical assessment, the doctor asks specific questions related
to your pet’s current condition. Unlike people, pets can’t tell us where it hurts or how they feel. Your pet is relying on you to fill in the gaps.
Diagnostics
A wealth of information is contained inside the body. Diagnostic testing and imaging unlocks this information and brings it to the surface. The results of laboratory analysis and diagnostic imaging
are invaluable in both diagnosing your pet’s condition
and prescribing treatment. They are especially important when the doctor needs to “rule out” different illnesses that might produce similar symptoms.
